9A - Foodbank Donation

Yesterday, as a result of the amazing fundraising work 9A did before the Easter holidays, we visited 2 supermarkets – Aldi and Costco – buying food items to donate to Tameside East Foodbank.

9A - Foodbank Donation

The Foodbank had recently posted an appeal at the beginning of April for more donations of coffee/tea, long life milk, fruit juice/squash, tinned meat, tinned fish, tinned soup, tinned fruit & vegetables, toilet rolls, shower gel and shampoo.

Pupils used this as their shopping list and were able to locate these items within the supermarket and fill up our trollies. Everyone then helped to put the items onto the conveyor belt and fill up shopping bags and boxes with our items.

Then, we delivered our items to our local foodbank in Ashton, ready for when they open to the public today.

In total, we donated £206 worth of items to the foodbank, which will make a huge difference to some vulnerable people in our community.

9A behaved impeccably all day and were a credit to Samuel Laycock School!
