8B – This Half-Term

In 8B we have been having a great time learning about light and shadows! We started off the unit of work feeling around different objects and realising that it’s light that helps us know what’s in front of us.

We then started to look at how light changes when objects are put in front of it. We explored the different shapes that our hands could create. Following this, we experimented with different materials to find which would make the best material for a curtain. We learned some new vocabulary; transparent, translucent and opaque. From this experiment we found that the card we used was opaque because no light was able to pass through it.

We are doing some fantastic learning in our other subjects too! In art, we have been working as a small group to create a landscape together. We’ve begun exploring our times-tables and other parts of multiplication and division, in maths. In English, we’re getting ready to write and informative piece about Manchester!
