Thursday 6 November 2025 Dystopian Worlds This week core group 1 started their new English topic ‘Dystopian World'. We are basing our work on The Hunger Games. We have watched clips from the film and talked about what it must be like to live under a dictatorship.

Thursday 6 November 2025 Sensory 1 - Baking Pupils in Sensory 1 practised their baking and decorating skills making toadstools fairy cakes linking in with our magical mystical theme.

Thursday 6 November 2025 Kayaking What a fantastic end to our kayaking programme at Debdale Water Centre! Over the last 7 weeks, our students have developed their paddling skills, water confidence and teamwork, all while having plenty of fun on the water. They've also all secured their Start Award from Go Paddling which is a great achievement.

Friday 10 October 2025 Harry Potter Day Pupils at Samuel Laycock School experienced a truly magical day as they celebrated Harry Potter Day 2025! The school was transformed into a world of wizardry and wonder, with activities including potion-making, crest-designing, face-painting, baking, herbology, and even a thrilling game of Quidditch!

Thursday 6 March 2025 Super Learning Day Tuesday 4th March was Super Learning Day at school. This time the pupils learned about Islam. We learned about the 5 Pillars of Islam, Shahada, Salah (Prayer), Zakat, Sawm (Fasting) and Hajj (Pilgrimage).

Friday 14 February 2025 Bowling Blog! Our Key Stage 4 communication pupils ventured to Hollywood Bowl, Middlebrook in Bolton for the Greater Manchester Bowling Finals, after qualifying in December in the Tameside District competition. Seven of our amazing pupils Faris, Savannah, Steven, Deacon, Lewis, Ellis and Ellie took to the lanes for a very competitive event against 6 other schools from across Greater Manchester. Representing Tameside, Samuel Laycock pupils were raring to go with Deacon stating “We are going to win it Sir” on the way to the event.

Friday 7 February 2025 Chill Factore! It was our 4th week on the slopes at Chill Factore, and due to lots of sickness bugs around school only 5 pupils managed to ski this week, however this didn’t stop our pupils making amazing progress throughout the lesson.

Thursday 21 November 2024 KS4 Comms Blog Pupils from KS4 Comms braved the freezing temperatures to take a trip to Manchester yesterday. We travelled by bus, then tram with pupils being able to buy their own tram tickets.
